How To Throw The Perfect Backyard BBQ

Who does not like a backyard BBQ? The backyard BBQ epitomizes the laid back spirit of summer! Guests attend in casual attire and enjoy the casual outdoor get together with friends and relatives.

If you are thinking of hosting a backyard BBQ of your own, here are some things that you may want to consider to ensure that everything goes smoothly!

1) What type of grill should you use? There is a great debate over which is better: gas or charcoal. BBQ purists will tell you that it is not a BBQ without the coal. The decision on which to use essentially falls into your hands. While gas grills are more convenient and cook the foods faster, there is nothing like the flavor that comes from a charcoal grill!

2) How many people are invited? The most embarrassing thing that can happen at any party or get together is to run out of food. Plan ahead and look at the number of people who have been invited. Estimate how much each person will eat and plan accordingly.

3) Use tongs. One of the biggest sins of BBQ is piercing the food with a fork to either turn it or remove it from the grill. Poking the food with a fork allows moisture to escape which will dry out the items. If at all possible, use tongs to move items around on the grill.

4) Hold the sauce. It is always best to wait on adding BBQ sauce until the product is almost finished cooking. If you add it too early, the sugars in the sauce will cause it to burn and make a mess of your grill. Waiting until the product is about to come off, will ensure that you will have great items to serve your guests.

5) Allow meats to sit. It is always a good idea to allow your steaks to sit out at room temperature for 30 minutes prior to putting them on the grill. This allows the meat to rest and helps to lock in the flavor as it cooks.
