Art, tradition, nature and great food, these are the things that attract tourists to Florence. In this Italian city are concentrates many of the famous attractions that are appreciated in the whole world.

As for the art – Florence is surely one of the most important cities and the historic center; we have here a large number of works of enormous historical and artistic value. There are so many works of art in Florence that UNESCO declares the whole old part of this famous Italian city “heritage of humanity.”

Therefore, museums in Florence are among the most visited in Italy. Among which the Uffizi gallery counts the most visits in Italy.

On the other hand, Florence is in itself an open-air museum. Walking around the old part of town: cathedrals, palaces, statues and bridges are real masterpieces of human geniuses of the past.

More to mention, Florence has inherited many traditions from its glorious past, which are still present and celebrated by both its inhabitants and by anyone visiting the city.

Traditions that derive from religious holidays, for example Easter wagon burst. Each year, large, majestic, antique wagon pulled by oxen to the cathedral of Florence. Once it reaches the Duomo, a dove released from traditional wagon and fires and fireworks are lit in honor of one of the members of the ancient Florentine family. Because family “de’Pazzi” was distinguished for courage during the siege of Jerusalem during the first Christian crusade in the holy land.

Beside the religious traditions in Florence, popular ones continue, such as the historic football. Every year in June there is a tournament with the participation of four teams of different areas of the city.

This game differed by its extreme hardness and spectacle of the game comparing to traditional football games. There is not only playing with the ball, but actual fighting between the players of the various teams. During these confrontations, players face off using a variety of techniques including fighting and boxing.

Another aspect that makes Florence a particularly popular area is the beauty of the area of the region. Hilly areas around Florence are especially beautiful and full of fascinating landscapes and well-groomed by people.

One of the most famous areas of countryside hills of Florence is Chianti. This part of Tuscany is well known and appreciated and not only for the beauty. Here are many vineyards, typical of this area on the outskirts of Florence producing excellent wines. Chianti countryside areas around Florence are famous also for traditional Tuscan foods meats, cheeses and meats produced.

Many of these products have obtained the exclusive DOP (designation of origin) and IGP (Designation of origin and geographical indication) certification by the European Community for their purity and goodness, which helps them to become and stay well known internationally.
